Sperlonga is a renowned tourist resort that overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea in one of the most scenic stretches of the Riviera of Ulysses, namely the territory that extends from the Circeo promontory to Gaeta. The historical centre, which opens onto the sea and splits this wonderful coastal region into the eastwards and the westwards sections, appears as a fascinating tangle of houses crossed by long stairways, flights of small arches in between narrow alleys, and enchanting panoramic views of the sky and the sea. The other section of the beach - eastward-bound and full of atmosphere - hosts the archaeological site connected with the remains of the Roman site known as Emperor Tiberius' Villa and the nearby homonym grotto (whose finds are displayed in the adjacent National Archaeological Museum). During each of the past six years the sea of Sperlonga has been given the award of the ?European Blue Flag?, a recognition enhanced by a second one, the title of ?The Most Beautiful Suburb of Italy?. The Virgilio Grand Hotel has recently been built in Sperlonga, an enchanting tourist resort on the coast of Latium. The facility, which consists of a three-building complex conceived and furnished in a perfect modern style, is in the city centre at a very short distance from the sea. The Grand Hotel, which is entirely air-conditioned, contains an ample hall for your most enjoyable moments divided into several lounges featuring an American bar, corners for your relax, and a plasma screened television. Furthermore, starting from the next few months (year 2004) the facility will include: - another ceremony room for approximately 200 people; - a congress centre with four air-conditioned rooms (maximum capacity: 250 people); - a fitness centre; - a beauty farm; - a swimming pool with open-air hydro massage.
